MADE POSSIBLE BY
The health and safety of the running community is our top priority, and all event participants and attendees will be required to adhere to specific coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines, including social distancing and limiting touch points. Columbus Running Club and Mill Race Marathon will follow recommendations from the CDC, the Indiana State Department of Health, and the Bartholomew County Health Department regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, guidelines for large gatherings indoor and outdoor.
We recognize that guidelines are likely to change between now and September. We will continue to keep runners updated on the latest health and safety procedures and guidelines.
As of August, runners and spectators can expect changes to the standard event operations including:
August 28 – Due to the rising COVID-19 Delta variant cases and the strain that has put on local health organizations, we have made the very hard decision to remove our Full Marathon distance event. Removing the Full Marathon distance will allow us to make sure the appropriate amount of emergency medical support is available at key points along the Half Marathon and 5K courses. We understand this will be challenging to accept for some, however, please know we exhausted all of our resources and options before making this decision and feel it is the only option available that will allow us to proceed with having an event, albeit a smaller one.
- Runners and spectators will be required to wear masks during packet pick-up, pre-race, and post-race for all indoor spaces, and where appropriate social distancing is not possible. Masks are not required while running during the event.
- An optional pre-race bag check will be one-way traffic and require social distancing and masking while indoors.
- To establish social distancing and reduce density at the start, a controllable and continuous flow start format will be utilized.
- At the finish, all runners will receive snacks, drink and medal from self service tables upon completing the race.
Bartholomew Co. Health Dept. will have a mobile vaccination clinic on site Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25 to provide COVID-19 free vaccinations.
We’ll continue to keep runners updated on the latest health and safety protocols.
